Google Cloud (GCP) DevOps consulting for startups

We build and operate production Google Cloud infrastructure: Cloud Run and GKE, Cloud SQL, VPC design, CI/CD, and cost control — delivered as Terraform in your own GCP projects. GCP's managed services are the closest thing to 'serverless everything', and we help startups use that instead of fighting it.

Scope

What our Google Cloud consulting covers

  • GCP project and org architecture: folders, IAM, shared VPC, workload identity
  • Cloud Run for services that don't need Kubernetes; GKE (Standard or Autopilot) when they do
  • Cloud SQL and Memorystore with HA, backups, and tested restores
  • GCP cost optimization: committed-use discounts, right-sizing, BigQuery slot control
  • SOC 2-ready GCP: audit logs, CMEK encryption, evidence into Vanta/Drata

System design

How we scale systems on Google Cloud

  1. 1

Cloud Run first: request-based autoscaling to zero makes it the cheapest way to scale spiky startup traffic — GKE only when workloads outgrow it

  2. 2

GKE Autopilot for cluster workloads: per-pod billing and no node management keeps the platform burden near zero for a small team

  3. 3

Cloud SQL read replicas and connection pooling (PgBouncer) before sharding — most startups never need more

  4. 4

Pub/Sub decouples producers from consumers so traffic spikes queue instead of cascading

In practice

What a typical engagement looks like

A seed-stage startup on a single GCE VM moves to Cloud Run with Cloud SQL HA, infrastructure lands in Terraform, deploys become a git push, and committed-use discounts cover the new baseline — ~30% lower bill with autoscaling that survives a launch-day spike.

Illustrative engagement — representative of typical work at typical scale, not a specific client. See a full sample audit deliverable here.

Google Cloud work is covered by the Fractional DevOps retainer ($2,900/mo) and scoped fixed-price projects — start with the guaranteed $1,900 audit if you want findings before commitments.

Questions

Google Cloud, straight answers

Cloud Run or GKE?

Cloud Run until proven otherwise. It autoscales to zero, bills per request, and removes the entire cluster-operations burden. GKE makes sense with many always-on services, sidecar-heavy meshes, custom operators, or GPU workloads. Starting on Cloud Run and moving specific workloads to GKE later is a clean, normal path.

We got Google Cloud startup credits — can you help us use them well?

Yes. Credits hide waste: teams build expensive habits that hurt when credits expire. We architect as if you were paying, so the post-credit bill doesn't ambush you — and we'll structure committed-use purchases to start exactly when credits end.
